This is the latest version of Advanced Screening based on the production we staged at the Powerhouse last year. The script is a romantic comedy/drama about the problems that arise when young people are in serious relationships. The narrative is a fast paced episodic story revolving around a group of friends in year 12, on the verge of finishing school and dealing with the minefield of the their future, and their relationships. Includes cinematic theatre reference.

10 characters -  suitable for year 10 to 12 drama class, low level course language.

NEW Headspace    


Written by Brad Jennings last year for an Artist in Residence performance project with Clayfield College and also performed by Sunshine Coast Grammar. Brad worked collaboratively with the students to devise a contemporary context and new characters based on the Alice in Wonderland story. Penelope is a 17 year old girl who feels as if she has the weight of the world on her shoulders. Everyday she travels to and from school on the train, it is the only time she has to herself and as she listens to her iPod the playlist becomes a soundtrack to imaginative episodes as she moves in and out of her own subconscious. DVD of backdrops and transitions included.

Advanced Screening 2006 (thematic version)

Advanced Screening is a romantic drama written specifically for teenagers and their families about the issues that arise when young and inexperienced people are in serious relationships.

The play focuses on a boys’ school football team and follows the team-mates and friends through their triumphs and tribulations in the week leading up the district grand final.

16 year old Luci’s parents have suddenly separated after years of seemingly happy marriage. Her world is abruptly torn in two as she deals with her fighting parents, a new home and school, and the value of love.

Hollow Crossing is a place with a history of disappearance , Cliff and Virginia are journalists for the supernatural magazine Undercover. Late one stormy afternoon they turn off the highway and discover the truth behind the legend.

Rocks in my Head

This is a story about a father and son who never said they love each other. Sam is 14 and is facing the prospect of living alone with an uncommunicative father as his mother has just passed away.
